Intensive Adult Literacy Project
FREE Adult Reading and Math Class

Challenge: 1 in 5 adults in Tarrant County cannot pass a basic literacy test

The purpose of the United Way Intensive Adult Literacy Project is to provide Tarrant County adults with up to 5 weeks of instruction in reading and/or math in an effort to help participants increase their literacy skills and become eligible for CLC, Inc. training programs.

Work at your own pace
Classes held:
Monday - Thursday from 2 PM - 6 PM
(Approximately five weeks)

Basic Entry Requirements:

  1. Tarrant County resident,
  2. US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien,
  3. 17+ years old,
  4. Reading and/or Mathematics levels between the fourth and eighth grade levels
    measured by the Test for Adult Basic Education),
  5. Motivation to learn.
Additional Requirements:
(If interested in applying for a CLC, Inc. aerospace training program)
  1. Unemployed or Underemployed,
  2. No felony convictions

Limited funds are available from United Way to overcome problems, such as a lack of child care or gasoline money, that make it hard for people to attend class.
